Important Class Work Guidelines
I believe class work is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experiences in school. I give class work because it reinforces what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, and helps students develop self-discipline, responsibility, and organizational skills.
Tests and projects will be given at the end of a unit or chapter. Students will have several days notice to prepare. Quizzes may be given at any time.
I expect students to follow the school homework policies in the school handbook. This will be given out during the first week of school and be asked to be signed and returned by both student and parent.
I understand that on occasion extenuating circumstances may arise for not finishing homework. Please send a note on the day the homework is due stating the reason it was not completed. The note must be dated and signed by the parent. Students are expected to turn in their class work on time. No assignments will be accepted after the unit or chapter is completed.
I feel that parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their children. Therefore, I ask you provide support and encouragement. Please check Skyward regularly to monitor your child's academic progress.
Grading Scale
A+ 100 B+ 89-87 C+ 79-77 D+ 69-67
A 99-94 B 86-84 C 76-73 D 66-63
A- 93-90 B- 83-80 C- 72-70 D- 62-60
Students will be allowed to correct social studies, science, and language tests and quizzes. All corrections must be completed before the unit is done. In order to earn back points, the student must include an explanation of why the problem is now correct. The final grade will be the two scores averaged.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Servi
